PURPOSE:
The purpose of this agreement is to secure the employment of Ms. Roopa Anjanappa through the authorization of an agreement with Global Data Solutions Inc. for Engineering Consulting Services
BACKGROUND:
Ms. Anjanappa has been providing various traffic engineering services to the City for the past year through an unpaid internship. She has been integrally involved in traffic modeling of such project as the Downer Place/Benton two way conversion, New York Street two way conversion, Lake Street two way conversions and the Highland and Sullivan Roundabout. Ms. Anjanappa came to the City with a wealth of traffic engineering education and experience including a Master Degree in Transportation Engineering and Operations from the University of Newcastle in England.
Her unique skill set aligns with several short term needs of the City of Aurora. This in combination with her past efforts makes Ms. Anjanappa a well-qualified individual for the short term needs of the City.
DISCUSSION:
Over the next three years the City of Aurora has several projects that will require a project engineer capable of providing traffic modeling, consultant oversight, and public presentation materials. These projects include the potential Lake Street/River Street two way conversion and the proposed New York/Galena two way conversion. In addition, the traffic engineering group is working toward more detailed and interactive school traffic safety plans citywide.
The proposed agreement allows the City to add a short term full time employee to meet the short term needs at pay rate commensurate with the Council approved salary schedule without benefits.
