PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for Masters Pkwy off W. Indian Trail to investigate baseball parking congestion throughout area during by baseball games.

BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted PS # 2659453 expressing concern for parking congestion during baseball games at the diamond on the north side of W. Indian Trail.

DISCUSSION:
W. Indian Trail is classified as an arterial roadway, with a 35 mph speed limit. The roadways to the south in the Fairway Homes subdivision are all classified as neighborhood residential with 25 mph speed limits. While the residential streets have full curb, gutter, and partial sidewalks, W. Indian Trail only has sidewalk on the north side, and has a gravel shoulders north and south without parking restrictions. The residential roadways are approximately 27.5 feet wide.

On the north side of W. Indian Trail, there is a baseball park with one baseball diamond. Named the Fox Valley Freedom Field (foxvalleyfreedom.com) and sponsored by Top Pick Athletics (toppickathletics.com), the complex is outside the city limits. The park does not have a parking lot, save for the aggregate shoulder on W. Indian Trail. Baseball vehicles park on the north and south side of W. Indian Trail, and spill into the surrounding residential roadways including: Masters Pkwy, Courtyard Circle, and other roadways of the Fairways Homes subdivision.

Parking restrictions are clearly signed in the Fairways Homes subdivision, and no more would appear to be needed at this time. Parking in these residential roadways is limited to one side only.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends contact with the Fox Valley Freedom organization to encourage an off-street parking alternative and communication with Baseball participants not...
