SUBJECT:title
A Parking Study for Thunderbird Court (West). Ward 9, Alderman Bugg.
body
PURPOSE:
A Parking Study for Thunderbird Court (West) to determine the need to restrict parking within the cul-de-sac, along the median curb line.
BACKGROUND:
Alderman forwarded resident complaint regarding vehicles parked adjacent to the cul-de-sac median curb line, causing traffic flow issues and possibly impeding emergency vehicle access.
DISCUSSION:
Thunderbird Court (West) is classified as residential roadway, 26 feet in width, with a 25 mph speed limit. Due to driveway spacing, legal parking is very limited along the outer curb line of the cul-de-sac and there is not a visitor parking area available. The fire hydrant location is just out of the cul-de-sac area. Depending of where a vehicle is parked adjacent to the median, the parked vehicle could impede delivery trucks, garbage pick-up and emergency vehicles.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street Department resources.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installing a parking restriction, adjacent to the cul-de-sac median, either with NO PARKING signage or yellow curb.
