DATE: August 14, 2017
SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.
PURPOSE:
To maintain the number of Class F - Beer and Wine Restaurant license for the number of Class F licenses at 15.
BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.
DISCUSSION:
Cheng Xin Asian Garden, Inc., d/b/a Big Sea Sushi & Noodles, located at 2009 W. Galena Boulevard, has submitted a liquor license application for a Class F license for the purpose of selling to the general public beer and wine by the drink for consumption on the premises only.
Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be referred to the August 22, 2017 meeting of the Government Operations Committee for consideration.
