SUBJECT:
A Resolution authorizing the appointments of management personnel within the Information Technology (IT) Department.

DISCUSSION:
The Information Technology (IT) Department is a new department and part of the amendment set forth in Legistar item 21-0508. Previously housed under Innovation and Core Services, the position of Chief Information Officer is an existing title but must be appointed as a Department Head. The other appointments brought forth are for new divisions within the department.

This resolution will authorize the appointments to the Information Technology (IT) Department. Job descriptions and notices of appointment are attached.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

WHEREAS, Chapter 2 of the Code of Ordinances provides that the Mayor, shall, with the approval of the City Council, appoint the officers of the City and heads and assistant heads of the departments and divisions of the City; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Chapter of the Code of Ordinances, the Mayor has notified the City Council of the appointment of Michael Pegues as the Chief Information Officer (Exhibit A), and has requested the City Council's approval of said appointment; and
