SUBJECT:
The Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board is requesting permission to stage the Fiestas Patrias Parade in downtown Aurora on Sunday, September 16, 2018, stepping off at 10:30 am.

PURPOSE:
The parade is part of the annual Fiestas Patrias celebration. The event is a celebration of Hispanic Culture during Hispanic Heritage Month.

BACKGROUND:
The parade is coordinated by the Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board with guidance from the City's Special Events Division. Also assisting to stage the parade are the Dollars for Scholars and the Aurora Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce organizations.

DISCUSSION:
The organizers will submit the parade line-up a week prior for review. The Board is responsible for all APD costs associated with the event.
The parade route is Benton/Broadway/Downer with the reviewing stand in front of the DLP.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
Assistance from the following City departments is requested:
Police, Streets, MVPS, Electrical, Downtown Maintenance and Special Events. A detailed request is attached. It also specifies the responsibilities of the organizers.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
