SUBJECT:
A resolution appointing Chief Financial Officer and reappointing John Duggan to the Aurora Police Pension Board.
DISCUSSION:
The Police Pension Board is a five (5) member board. Two of the members are elected by active members and one member is elected by the beneficiaries. The remaining two members are appointed by the Mayor. Currently, both of the two appointed seats are vacant.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is requested the City Council approve the recommended appointment and reappointment.

A Resolution Appointing the Chief Financial Officer and Reappointing John Duggan Aurora to the Aurora Police Pension Board.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, there are currently seats available on the board; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that said candidates be appointed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of the Chief Financial Officer and reappointment of John Duggan as members of the Aurora Police Pension Board.
NOW BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of the Chief Financial Officer and John Duggan shall expire May 31, 2019, however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
