SUBJECT:
A request to purchase a replacement Police Utility Interceptor from Currie Motors for $31,664.00

PURPOSE:
To maintain the Police fleet.

BACKGROUND:
Unit 36-154 is a Ford Police Utility Interceptor that was involved in an accident while responding to an emergency call. This vehicle was inspected by Lee Body Shop and Auto Paint Techniques. Both auto body repair companies determined that this unit is a total loss.

DISCUSSION:
Currie Motors, located at 9423 W. Lincoln Hwy, Franklin Park, IL, was awarded the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative contract #152 for the 2018 Ford Police Interceptor.

The City's Property Claims Account 601-0000-410-4075 has funds available to purchase this vehicle. Any proceeds from the disposition of the totaled vehicle will be returned to this fund as an offset.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact to other divisions.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I recommend that the City Council approves a resolution to purchase a replacement 2018 Ford Police Utility Interceptor from Currie Motors in the amount of $31,664.00.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
