SUBJECT:
Increase the total value of the 2016 Citywide Pavement Patching Water and Sewer Maintenance contract to $575,952.36

PURPOSE:
This resolution is required in order to authorize payment for pavement restoration that had to be performed as a result of water and sewer related emergency repairs.

BACKGROUND:
On March 22, 2016 City Council authorized the execution of the above referenced contract with Geneva Construction. The contract was established through the City's typical competitive bidding process. The final quantities of pavement patching have exceeded the original estimated quantities.

DISCUSSION:
The 2016 budget provided funding for this work in account number 510-4063-511-38.38, Water and Sewer Fund. A Budget Transfer is in process to provide adequate funding for the additional expenses.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This resolution is required in order to pay for completed pavement repairs.

Please forward this request to Finance Committee for their consideration.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
