A Traffic Study for Almond Drive in the 1100 block. Ward 5, Alderman Franco.
body
PURPOSE:
A Traffic Study for Almond Drive in the 1100 block to determine the need for traffic calming.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted ACR Case ID 129288 expressing concerns regarding traffic speeds on Almond Drive in the 1100 block.
DISCUSSION:
Almond Drive is classified as a residential street with the standard 25 mph speed limit. It was recently paved with curb and gutter in good condition. Both sides have sidewalks, and most drive approaches are concrete in good condition. Parking is unrestricted on both sides of the roadway. Traffic flow was measured during weekdays with an ADT of 2,000 vpd. Mean weekday speeds were found to be 32 mph, with an 85th percentile speed of 37 mph, and a median speed of 32 mph.
The traffic volume on Almond Drive remains fairly low compared to other residential collectors. Speeds are higher than we would like to see but would not recommend speed tables. Other option exists. Staff would recommend targeted enforcement and further discussion with Alderman.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of traffic study.
