PURPOSE:
Run to Achieve is requesting approval to hold a 10K in Phillips Park and nearby streets to offer an event for fitness, running, and fun.
BACKGROUND:
In 2013 the Fox River Trail Runners were the sponsoring organization for a 10K road race that used parts of Phillips Park, other streets in Aurora, and FVPD trails, and in 2014, Your Health Vision was the sponsoring organization for the 10K road race that was planned to be held at Phillips Park. The event was canceled due to the low number of registrations.
DISCUSSION:
The sponsoring organization is responsible for all costs associated with this proposed event. They are expecting 150 people to participate and will have 5 staff/volunteers to help.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City services are needed from the Parks & Recreation Division for use of Phillips Park to run through, parking, and trash cans, the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division, Streets Maintenance Division for barricades.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
