Title: A Resolution to Accept Plumbing Service Bids for the Water and Sewer Division
TO:      Mayor Thomas J. Weisner

FROM:      Raymond Hull, Superintendent of Water and Sewer Maintenance

DATE:      December 26, 2013

SUBJECT: title
A Resolution to Accept Plumbing Service Bids for the Water and Sewer Division
body
PURPOSE:
In accordance with Municipal Code Section  48-26 (Utilities: Responsibility for Installation and Maintenance) the City of Aurora provides water service repairs from the corporation cock at the city water main  up to and including the water meter.
All repairs must be performed by licensed and bonded plumbers

BACKGROUND:
Plumbing service bids are solicited annually. This year we received submissions from10 qualified area plumbers from the City of Aurora, the Village of Montgomery and the Village of Oswego. A round robin system is used to distribute assignments based on availability.

DISCUSSION:
The 2014 City of Aurora budget provides $189,000.00 in account 510-4063-511.38-45  of the Water and Sewer Fund. There is no outstanding debt owed the City of Aurora by any of the 10 bidders.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
ยท      The City of Aurora is not responsible for damage caused by leaking service lines.  Our division recognizes that leaking pipes can be stressful for customers therefore plumbers are dispatched for internal leaks within an hour of receiving notification. Our main goals are to have repairs made as soon as possible and reduce non-revenue water.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I recommend that the 10 plumbing service bids be approved and forwarded to the BGI committee for the January 13, 2014 meeting.
