SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study for 333 S. Evanslawn Avenue regarding speeds.  Ward 4 & 5; Alderman Donnell; Alderman Peters
body
PURPOSE:
To investigate a speeding complaint by a resident for Evanslawn in the vicinity of Aurora University.

BACKGROUND:
A resident called the Alderman's office with a myriad of concerns one of which was the rate of speed on Evanslawn.   A speed Study was conducted April 7, 2014 thru April 10, 2014.

DISCUSSION:
The speed study indicated an average speed of 27 MPH in each direction with an 85th percentile speed of 33 MPH in each direction.  The average daily traffic was 933 vehicles per day.    The peak periods are between 7:00 and 7:30 AM in the morning and 3:00-3:30PM in the afternoon.   While the study indicates eligibility for the City Traffic Calming per the adopted policy, due to the proximity to a non-residential use  a non intrusive calming would be recommended.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
No specific impact at this time.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends continued dialog with the resident and Alderman to find an appropriate non-intrusive traffic calming measure.
