SUBJECT:
A Resolution appointing Terrence Lindsay and Steve Verive to Aurora's Building Code Board of Appeals.

DISCUSSION:
The Building Code Board of Appeals is a five (5) member board tasked with hearing appeals to the Building Code. In addition, the board is involved in the review and adoption of International Code Council (ICC) series changes. The board is required to have registered professionals with experience in the fields of architecture, structural engineering, mechanical and plumbing, electrical engineering and fire protection.

Members of the Building Code Board of Appeals also serve on the Permanent Building and Fire Code Committee. The Permanent Building and Fire Code Committee's membership is comprised of members of both the Building and Fire Boards of Appeal.

Currently, there are two expired terms on the Building Code Board of Appeals.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the recommended appointments to the Building Code Board of Appeals.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and

WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and

WHEREAS, there are currently two expired terms on the Building Code Board of Appeals; and

WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidates be appointed to said board.
