Aurora Solar and EV Charging Rebate Program for Alderman-At-Large, John Laesch

BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Solar and EV Charging rebate program is to further incentivize Aurora residents to transition to fossil fuel free vehicles and solar energy. This is a pilot program that aims to capitalize on other existing programs and incentives through Citizens Utility Board's group buy solar program, state, and federal incentive programs, and COMED rebate programs. The alderman will work with residents and other entities to maximize incentives that help Aurora residents save on their energy bills and transition to a carbon-free future.
DISCUSSION:
The Alderman will appropriate up to $15,000 of fiscal year 2024 aldermanic funds as incentives for Aurora residents for the following rebates:
Up to $1,000 reimbursement for installation of solar systems that utilize 5 or more panels.
Up to $500 reimbursement for the installation of a home EV charging system.
Up to $3,000 reimbursement for installation on multi-rooftop townhome projects or larger projects with 60 panels or more.
