SUBJECT:
Resolution to Award a Contract to Brandt Builders for the 2014 Storm Sewer Extensions Project - Fourth Street, Marion Avenue, and Maple Avenue.
BGI Committee Meeting - June 9, 2014

PURPOSE:
To award the above referenced project.

BACKGROUND:
The installation of this storm sewer is part of the City's overall plan to de-combine the storm and sanitary sewers within this area of the City

DISCUSSION:
On May 21, 2014, five (5) bids were received and publicly read aloud. The low bid was submitted by Brandt Builders, Inc. in the amount of five hundred three thousand three hundred forty-four dollars and no cents ($503,344.00). The 2014 CIP has budgeted funds for this work within project B037 account #280-1852-512.81-23 (Stormwater Management Fee Fund).

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The installation of this storm sewer will help to reduce or eliminate future sewer backups within residential basements in this area. The new sewer will help to reduce future maintenance costs associated with damage to private propertied due to sewage backups.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
We respectfully request this resolution be forwarded on to the BGI Committee for their review and recommendation for approval.
