Run and Achieve Pure Pikermi Half Marathon, Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 8:00am to 11:00am.

body

PURPOSE:

Run and Achieve is requesting approval to hold the Pure Pikermi Half Marathon to utilize the North River St. Park and west side of the Fox River Trail as a running event.

BACKGROUND:

In 2013, Your Health Vision was sponsor of the Fox River Trail Half Marathon run along the west side of the Fox River Trail.  In 2014, Your Health Vision was sponsor of the City of Lights 10K on July 4th at Phillips Park.  In 2015, Run to Achieve was sponsor of the Red, White, and Blue 6.2 to be held on July 4th, but was canceled by the sponsor.

DISCUSSION:

Run and Achieve is proposing to hold the event in 2016 with a start line on the east side of River St. in the street, and north of the corner of River and Vine Streets, keeping traffic open on River St. up to and including Vine St.  Traffic would be on one side of the street of River St. at the beginning of the run and totally open afterwards.  The runners would run north on River St and connect with the west side of the Fox River Trail to run north on the trail, crossing over Illinois going north and crossing on the return coming back south and ending at a point along the trail, not in the street on River St.  Run and Achieve is expecting 500 people to participate and 10 staff/volunteers to help.  Run and Achieve is responsible for all costs associated with holding this proposed event, and will need to seek approval from the FVPD, and all entities involved with the route north of Aurora.

IMPACT STATEMENT:

City services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
