A Resolution appointing Joseph Grisson to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Housing Authority Board is seven (7) member board tasked with providing oversight to the Aurora Housing Authority. Commissioners are recommended by the Mayor and approved by the Aurora City Council. There is currently one vacancy on the board.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council approve the appointment of Joseph Grisson to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, there is currently a vacancy on the Aurora Housing Authority Board; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidate be appointed to said board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Joseph Grisson, Aurora, IL to the Aurora Housing Authority Board.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of Joseph Grisson shall expire on September 30, 2019, however, in any event, he shall continue to serve until his respective replacement has been approved by the Council.
