PURPOSE:
To measure Vehicle Speeds and Volumes on Deerpath Road to the south of W. Indian Trail.
BACKGROUND:
A Resident submitted concerns their Alderman expressing concerns for speeds on Deerpath Road south of W. Indian Trail.
DISCUSSION:
Traffic counts to the south of W. Indian Trail revealed and ADT of about 6,051 vpd. The Average Speed was between 34 and 35 mph, the Mode Speed was between 30 and 35 mph, while the 85th percentile was between 39 and 41 mph.
The roadway is designated as a collector roadway and was built as a two-lane rural cross section with no curb and gutter.
Per the traffic calming policy, this roadway meets the minimum qualifications for traffic calming. It should be noted that the traffic volume is at the upper end of the ADT and approaches the maximum volume for consideration of traffic calming.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of the traffic study.
