DATE: August 19, 2019

SUBJECT:
A resolution authorizing the Director of Purchasing to enter into an agreement with Rush Power Systems LLC for preventative maintenance of the City of Aurora's lift station and shop emergency generators.

PURPOSE:
The purpose for this resolution is to enter into to a contract with Rush Power Systems to perform preventative maintenance on eight standby emergency generators for the City's Water and Sewer Maintenance Division.

BACKGROUND:
The Water and Sewer Maintenance Division operates and maintains four sanitary sewage lift stations and three stormwater lift stations. In order to ensure continuous operation of the lift stations during power outages, emergency generators are located at each of the sanitary and storm lift stations as well as at the Water and Sewer Maintenance facility located at 649 S. River Street.

DISCUSSION:
On July 31, 2019 the City Clerk received and opened eight bids for the subject work. Rush Power Systems LLC was the low bidder for a total yearly cost of $24,485. The contract is for one year with the option and upon mutual consent to extend the contract for two additional one year extensions. Rush Power Systems has been satisfactorily maintaining the emergency engine generators since 2016.

$93,000 is contained in the 2019 budget and the proposed 2020 budget to provide funding for this work in account 510-4063-511.38-67 within the Water and Sewer Fund.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This work is needed in order to protect the health and safety of the City's citizens and to comply with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency requirements

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Please consider adopting the proposed resolution.
