SUBJECT:
Authorization to purchase Altosid Natular XRT tablet products for mosquito abatement for the 2018 season from Clarke Mosquito Inc.

PURPOSE:
To Obtain City Council approval to purchase Altosid Natular tablet products for mosquito abatement for the 2018 season.

BACKGROUND:
Insecticides are mandated for keeping mosquito reproduction to a minimum.

DISCUSSION:
Each year the Division of Street Maintenance dispenses tablets into catch basins throughout the City of Aurora. This prevents mosquito larvae from hatching, greatly reducing the mosquito population overall. Natular provides environmental stewardship and is a recipient of the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge award. Natular is manufactured and sold exclusively by Clarke Mosquito.

Funding has been appropriated in account 101-4460-431-65-38 for this expenditure of $30,933.52.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This preventive program reduces mosquito annoyance levels.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
City Council approval to purchase Altosid Natular XRT tablets for the 2018 season from Clarke Mosquito Inc.
