The Fox Valley Garden Club is requesting permission to stage their annual Aurora Gardeners' Plant Sale on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Aurora Transportation Center.

PURPOSE:
This event gives local gardeners an opportunity to sell their plants. There are also local vendors selling garden themed crafts and accessories.
BACKGROUND:
This is the 22nd year for this event sponsored by the Fox Valley Garden Club and the 5th year it's been held in conjunction with the Farmers Market Preview. More than 40 vendors are expected to participate.
DISCUSSION:
This is the primary community and fund raising event for the garden club. Proceeds from the sale are used to sponsor horticultural beautification projects in Aurora and provide horticultural education.
Organizers anticipate 800+ attendees supported by 30 volunteers.
A COI is being provided by the City of Aurora through a NFF Grant.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Assistance from the following departments/divisions is requested: Downtown Maintenance, Water & Sewer and MVPS.
City Services requested: Block off the bay just north of the Farmers Market location using, four (4) "No Overnight Parking" signs to be placed on Thursday evening, May 17. Four (4) picnic tables placed in that area morning of.
Possible need for a hydrant hook up from W&S.
All affected departments/divisions will be contacted by Special Events with final details one week prior to the event.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
