SUBJECT:
A Resolution Awarding a Not-to-Exceed Contract to Hardin Paving for the 2014 Citywide Patching Project-Water and Sewer Maintenance.
Finance Committee Meeting March 25, 2014.
PURPOSE:
To award a not-to-exceed contract for the above-referenced project.
BACKGROUND:
This contract will establish unit prices for 12 items of work to patch the pavement and replace sections of curb and gutter where the Water and Sewer Maintenance Division has made repairs to their utilities. Bid quantities are estimated. It is the intent of the Water and Sewer Division to spend the entire approved budget amount under this contract
DISCUSSION:
This project was advertised in the local paper for a minimum of fifteen days. Three (3) bids were received and publicly opened and read on Wednesday February 26th 2014 at 2:00 P.M.
The qualified low bidder was submitted by Builder's Paving, LLC dba Hardin Paving Services located in Hillside, IL in the amount of $481,841.00.
This project is budgeted for 2014 and will be paid for out of account # 510-4063-511.38-38 (Water and Sewer Fund) and has a balance of $500,000.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
This project will restore streets that were damaged during water and sewer repairs. The completion of the project will inherently make the roadways safer and will reduce/eliminate the number of complaints associated with the restoration of each repair.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
We respectfully request that this item be forwarded to the Finance Committee for their review and recommendation of approval.
