SUBJECT:
A Resolution Rejecting Bids for Highland Avenue and Sullivan Road Roundabout
PURPOSE:
To Reject Bids for Highland Avenue and Sullivan Road Roundabout
BACKGROUND:
On Wednesday April 13 the City opened bids for the Highland Avenue and Sullivan Road Roundabout. While the consultants Engineers Estimate was at $357,559.50, the two bids received came in at almost double the budgeted estimate.
DISCUSSION:
After reviewing the bids and hearing from the contractors, staff would like to modify the specifications, traffic control, and remove the stamped concrete from the project to bring the bids in more in line with the budgeted estimate. We anticipate the changes to save more the $150,000 from the rejected bids.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Approximately one month to six week delay in start of construction.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff Recommends Approving a Resolution Rejecting Bids for Highland Avenue and Sullivan Road Roundabout
