TO: Mayor Richard C. Irvin
FROM: Jennifer Stallings, City Clerk
DATE: February 4, 2020
SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.
PURPOSE:
To increase the number of Class E (Full Menu Restaurant) Licenses to a total number of Class E licenses of 55.
BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.
DISCUSSION:
Primos Tacos, Inc. d/b/a Primos Tacos, located at 914 N. Highland Avenue, Aurora, IL 60506 has submitted a liquor license application for a Class E license for the purpose of selling to the general public alcohol by the drink for consumption on the premises.
Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the licenses by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business representatives to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met. City of Aurora Ordinance O19-074 was approved on November 12, 2019, granting approval of a Special Use for a Liquor License within Five Hundred Feet of a Residential Property for Primos Tacos at this location.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I am recommending that this resolution be forwarded to Committee of the Whole by the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee for consideration at its meeting to be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020.
