SUBJECT: title
A Traffic Study for NO PARKING signage or Yellow Curb in front of the Hesed House Resource Center at 680 S. River Street (on the East side) and adjacent to the crosswalk has been requested. Ward 4, Alderman Donnell
body
PURPOSE:
A request was made to determine whether parking restrictions on the East side of River Street would increase awareness of the crosswalk from the Hesed House to the Hesed House Resource Center.
BACKGROUND:
The west side of River Street across from 680 S. River St. has about 150 feet of yellow curb extending North from the crosswalk. The East side has NO PARKING for the evening and night hours, but no other parking restrictions. Crosswalk signage is in place.
DISCUSSION:
The crosswalk in front of the Hesed House is used at least once per hour during daylight hours. Off street parking is available for Hesed House patrons. No other uses in the immediate vicinity require on street parking.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to install approximately four no parking any time signs.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends no parking any time signs install just north of the north driveway and just south of the south driveway with two additional signs in between at the discretion of the installer. The outer most signs should include arrows back to the no parking zone.
