Sri Jagganath Society is requesting permission to stage the Chariot Festival Saturday, July 14, 2018, from Noon to 3:00 pm on Corporate from Church to Farnsworth.

PURPOSE:
This is a religious festival in which a ceremony will be held indoors and will culminate in a chariot walking.
BACKGROUND:
The Sri Jagganath Society has held this event for the past 8 years, this is the second at this location. There have been no previous issues with this event.
DISCUSSION:
The organizers are expecting about 200 participants along with 25 staff/volunteers to assist. They are responsible for all costs associated with this event.
A COI has been received and included as an attachment.
Organizers will be in direct contact with APD Traffic for street closure.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
City services will be needed from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division for temporary street closure on Corporate from Church to Farnsworth (this is a change from the first version).
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
