A Traffic Study for Colorado Avenue in the Vicinity of the 1200 Block.  Ward 6, Alderman Saville

PURPOSE:
To study the roadway and determine qualification for traffic calming.  
 
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 92431 expressing a desire for a SPEED BUMP or CHILDREN AT PLAY signage for the 1200 Block of Colorado Avenue.  
 
DISCUSSION:
The roadway is classified as Residential with a Speed Limit of 25 mph. Recent data indicate and ADT of 1200 vpd with a Mean Speed of 29 mph and an 85% Speed of 39 mph.  Road width is 27.5 feet.
 
The City does not install CHILDREN AT PLAY signs based on state and federal guidance.
 
Based on the traffic study this segment of Colorado does qualify for traffic calming per the City policy.           
 
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No impact at this time.
 
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends acceptance of the traffic study.
