SUBJECT:
An Ordinance Changing the Name of Dayward's Court to Daywards Court located north of 5th Avenue and west of Harriet Avenue, in Kane County, Aurora, Illinois (City of Aurora - 18-0111 / AU26/2-18.039-M - TV - Ward 3)
PURPOSE:
The City of Aurora is requesting a street name change from Dayward's Court to Daywards Court.
BACKGROUND:
Kane County, in their continuing efforts to provide emergency responders with accurate information, contacted the City with regards to the conflicting records between the street name used in addressing and the street name posted on the signs. The Borealis Subdivision was originally platted in 1948 with the street name Dayward's Court. However, the City has been using Daywards Court (with no apostrophe) for property addresses. In addition, to exacerbate the situation, the street sign is posted with Dayward Court.
DISCUSSION:
Staff has reviewed the Street Name Change petition and have determined that it meets the applicable codes and ordinances.
IMPACT STATEMENT :
The properties in this area are currently addressed off Daywards Court, therefore, this street name change will not have any impact addressing. However, there are two street signs that will need to be corrected.
This will also update the County's records to match the City's name.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff would recommend APPROVAL of the Ordinance Changing the Name of Dayward's Court to Daywards Court located north of 5th Avenue and west of Harriet Avenue, in Kane County, Aurora, Illinois
