PURPOSE:
To review existing parking signage and Yellow Curb markings at the intersection of Jungels Avenue and Northfield Drive to optimize parking signage and markings for possible better traffic flow and parking.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 86217 expressing concern about parking at the intersection of Jungels Avenue and Northfield Drive. .
DISCUSSION:
Photos from April 2012, show there is no existing Parking signage or Yellow Curb at this intersection, save for the western Yellow Curb for the Fire Hydrant on Jungels Avenue as shown in the photos. The intersection is one block to the East of a Public School, complicating parking during arrival and dismissal. Northfield Drive has No Outlet to the North, and therefore low traffic volumes. Northfield is one of the wider roadways in the area and one of the few with curb and gutter. With Parking on both sides vehicles can still navigate the roadway. This is not the case with other roadway in the vicinity.
Staff has concerns that limited parking in this area will relocate traffic to areas that will pose a greater safety concern especially for student walkers.
With that said, staff does recommend 'No Parking Here to Corner' signs to be installed.
Should the Committee override staff recommendation parking restrictions would be on the west side of the road due to fire hydrant locations.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations would be required to install Parking signage.

Staff Recommends 'No Parking Here to Corner' signs to be installed on north and south leg of Northfield at Jungels.
