SUBJECT:
A Resolution authorizing the City to accept a grant award of $10,000 from The Hartford to support fire safety education efforts and programming.

PURPOSE:
To obtain City Council approval of a grant to be used to support fire safety education efforts and programming, in an effort to reduce home fire risks.

BACKGROUND:
The City and the Aurora Fire Department continually strive to educate the public and improve fire safety awareness, in an effort to minimize the risks of fire incidents within the community.

DISCUSSION:
The grant will provide $10,000 of funding with no additional costs to the City. The parameters of this grant can be customized to Fire Prevention Bureau's individual needs, and may include, but are not limited to, fire safety awareness and education within the community and local schools.

Grant use is expected to start immediately and must be used within one year of the dated letter.

No additional funds are needed.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
This resolution must be approved and signed to properly execute the agreement and to begin implementing the project.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Request is for the approval of The Hartford grant agreement to accept the award to improve fire safety awareness within the City.
