SUBJECT:title
A Traffic Study on N. Highland Avenue for special signage. Ward 6; Alderman Saville
body
PURPOSE:
To help prevent vehicles from driving into the driveway at the end of Lakeview Blvd. at 1084 and 1088 N. Highland Avenue.
BACKGROUND:
A resident submitted ACR Case ID 90030 expressing concern that "traffic pulls into their driveway because they don't realize it's a 2-way street."
DISCUSSION:
The driveway in question is located at the end of Lakewood Blvd. on the western side of N. Highland Avenue. Lakewood Blvd. is a Residential roadway while N. Highland Avenue is classified as a Major Collector. The intersection of Lakeview Blvd. at N. Highland Avenue is un-controlled with no STOP signs in any direction. While the request is for a two way arrow sign, the existing driveways will not allow proper placement of such a sign. Staff recommends a STOP sign be installed on Lakewood Blvd. approach to Highland. Staff believes this will assist in alleviating the ongoing concern.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Operations will be required to install one stop sign..
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends installation of a stop sign on the Lakewood approach to Highland.
