Aurora Veterans Advisory Council 5K Fun Run, Walk, Woof and Roll at Phillips Park, Sunday May 29, 2016 from 7:30am to 9:30am.

PURPOSE:

The Aurora Veterans Advisory Council is requesting permission to hold the proposed 5K event at Phillips Park to raise money for Aurora Veterans in need.

 

BACKGROUND:

This is the first year that the Aurora Veterans Advisory Council is planning to hold this proposed 5K event.  They are expecting over 100 participants and 30 volunteers to help.  The organizers are proposing that participants be allowed to have pets along that are on leash and participants carrying doggie bags.

 

DISCUSSION:

The Aurora Veterans Advisory Council is responsible for all costs associated with holding this event.

 

IMPACT STATEMENT:

The Aurora Veterans Advisory Council is requesting services from the Aurora Police Department Traffic Control Division, the Aurora Fire Department for Paramedics, Parks and Recreation Division for use of the park, trash bins, and battery charged audio equipment for making announcements.

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 Please forward to the Government Operations Committee for approval.
