PURPOSE:
Wayside Cross Life Spring and Urban Youth Ministries are requesting permission to hold its annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes event to promote awareness of homelessness and to raise funds for its Life Spring and Urban Youth Ministries.
BACKGROUND:
Wayside Cross Life Spring and Urban Youth Ministries have worked together for the past 11 years to hold the annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes event which has consisted of the 1 mile walk and activities at the base locations, previously the Aurora Community Center on Root Street and currently the John Harkness Center. 165 people participated in the event in 2017.
DISCUSSION:
Wayside Cross Life Spring and Urban Youth Ministries are expecting 200 people to participate in 2018 and 20 staff/volunteers to help with the event. The 1 mile walk will occur on streets near the John Harkness Center. Organizers will abide by all street crossing and pedestrian rules and laws. Wayside Cross Ministries is responsible for all costs associated with holding this proposed event.
