Pedal4Life is requesting to stage the HeroInMe Bike Ride on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 8:00 am to 10:30 am in Wards 8 and 9.

PURPOSE:
This event aims to raise community awareness of the opioid epidemic in Will and DuPage Counties.
BACKGROUND:
This is the second year for this event. There were no issues relating to this ride last year.
DISCUSSION:
The bike ride begins and ends in Naperville, with different mile routes that can take participants thought the cities of Aurora, Bolingbrook and Woodridge. The sponsoring organization is expecting over 100 riders and 24 staff/volunteers. Staff and volunteers will be monitoring different parts of the routes and will be stationed at specific intersections along the routes. The sponsor is also working with all other municipalities that are affected.
Detailed maps included in this packet as attachments. A COI will be issued at least two weeks before the event date.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
No City services have been requested for this event. The Aurora Police Department has communicated to the organizers that all participants need to abide by, and follow all bicycle/pedestrian rules, laws and safety regulations when riding through the City of Aurora.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed event be forwarded to the Government Operations Committee for review and approval.
