West High Homecoming Parade: Thursday, September 26th, 2013 from 2:15 to 4:45 pm

PURPOSE:
Permission and approval is hereby requested for the staging of the West Aurora High School Homecoming Parade sponsored by the Parent/Teacher and Student Organization on Thursday, September 26th, 2013 from approximately 2:15 to 4:45 pm. The event attracts 400-500 attendees and is managed by 15 volunteers.
The parade line-up will take place on Downer Place between Randall and Gladstone. This section of road will be closed down between 2:00 & 3:30 pm. Traffic will be re-routed to Galena Boulevard, between Randall and Commonwealth.
The parade route is South on Calumet to Garfield; East on Garfield to Fordham; South on Fordham to Kensington; West on Kensington to Calumet; North on Calumet to Downer.

DISCUSSION:
City services requested include a Police Squad to lead parade, and 6-8 Officers and Cadets as deemed necessary by the APD. Deliver barricades and signage according to parade route map and as deemed necessary by the Street Department, for detour of Downer between Randall and Gladstone, and all side streets during the parade. The entire parade route (see attached) will need to be posted No Parking the evening prior. Certificate of Insurance is needed. The event will be held rain or shine.
