SUBJECT:
Resolution Establishing the Maximum Number of City of Aurora Liquor Licenses by Class.

PURPOSE:
To maintain the number of Class E-1 - Limited Menu Restaurant maintaining the number of Class E-1 at 5.

BACKGROUND:
This request is presented in accordance with the 2011 amendment to the City's Liquor Ordinance, specifically Section 6-9(a), which charges the City Council with the authority to determine the number of licenses available in each classification.

DISCUSSION:
In spring of 2016,Gillerson's LLC. d/b/a Gillerson's Grubbery, located at 31 W. New York Street, Aurora, Illinois, 60506 had been granted a Class E-1 liquor license for the purpose of selling to the general public alcoholic liquor by the drink for consumption on the premises where sold, and not for resale in any form, provided that such sales shall be only in conjunction with the sale of food for consumption on the premises. This license would also allow for a limited menu to be in place Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 P.M. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 P.M. There has been a change in the ownership structure of greater than 50% so approval is being sought by City Council regarding this change.

Attached is the application submitted for your consideration. If approved, this resolution would increase the number of allowable liquor licenses as indicated in the accompanying Exhibit A to allow for the issuance of the license by the Commissioner. City staff has been working with the business owner to ensure that all requirements for a liquor license, as set forth in Chapter 6 of the City's Code of Ordinances, are met.

IMPACT STATEMENT:
The proposed resolution presents an opportunity to further the City of Aurora's economic development.
