PURPOSE:
A traffic study for LaSalle Street and Evans Avenue, to determine appropriate traffic control for the intersection.
BACKGROUND:
Resident submitted PS #3682797, requesting existing yield signs for the LaSalle Street approaches be changed to stop signs due to vehicle crashes.
DISCUSSION:
LaSalle Street and Evans Avenue are classified as residential roads, 30 feet in width, parking on both sides and posted speed limits of 25 mph. Crosswalk pavement markings exist for all legs of the intersection and light pedestrian traffic has been observed. A streetlight exists on the northwest corner of the intersection. APD reports 4 crashes in last three years, for the intersection.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Street Department resources.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends changing the existing yield signs, for the LaSalle Street approaches to stop signs.
