SUBJECT:
The Aurora Police Department is seeking approval from the City Council of a Resolution approving an agreement between the City of Aurora, through the Aurora Police Department, and the Fox Valley Park District, regarding police services.
PURPOSE:
The attached agreement outlines the how each entity responds to police services within the corporate limits of the City of Aurora and Fox Valley Park District properties within the corporate limits of the City of Aurora.
BACKGROUND:
The Aurora Police Department and the Fox Valley Park District officers have worked together to police the area parks over the years. This agreement puts into writing the duties of each party.
DISCUSSION:
This agreement outlines which party will lead investigations on certain crimes, provides provisions on how to request mutual aid, the enforcement of laws on City property and park district property, and outlines which party is responsible for the prosecution of tickets or complaints filed by each party.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
This agreement provides guidance to both entities on police services in the corporate limits of the City of Aurora which benefits the citizens of Aurora.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Aurora Police Department requests that the Resolution and attached agreement marked Exhibit A, between the City of Aurora, through the Aurora Police Department and Fox Valley Park District is approved.
