A Resolution appointing Cynthia Latimer and Peter Grometer to the Aurora Civic Center Authority.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this memo is to appoint two new members to the Aurora Civic Center Authority.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Civic Center Authority is a nine (9) member board tasked with overseeing the historic Paramount Theatre, Copley Theatre and RiverEdge Park. There are currently vacancies on the board.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the appointments of Cynthia Latimer and Peter Grometer to the Aurora Civic Center Authority.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, two vacancies currently exist on the board; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that Cynthia Latimer and Peter Grometer be appointed to said board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointments of Cynthia Latimer, Aurora, IL and Peter Grometer, Aurora, IL as members of the Aurora Civic Center Authority.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the terms of Cynthia Latimer and Peter Grometer shall expire September 30, 2017, however, in any event they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
