A resolution appointing Kristina Murphy and Ryan Anderson and reappointing Mavis Bates to "Sustainable Aurora" (the Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board).
DISCUSSION:
In 2014, "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board) was formed to act as any advisory body to the Mayor and City Council. The seven (7) member board advises the Mayor and City Council on the development or initiation of programs or actions that will enhance, develop and create sustainable practices within the City of Aurora. There are currently vacancies and expired terms on the board.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the appointment of Kristina Murphy and Ryan Anderson and the reappointment of Mavis Bates to "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board).

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, vacancies and expired terms exist on "Sustainable Aurora" (the Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board); and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that Kristina Murphy and Ryan Anderson be appointed and Mavis Bates be reappointed to said board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Kristina Murphy, Ward 9 of Aurora, IL, Ryan Anderson, Ward 9 of Aurora, IL and the reappointment of Mavis Bates, Ward 4 of Aurora, IL to "Sustainable Aurora" (The Mayor's Sustainable Aurora Advisory Board).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of Kristina Murphy shall expire on May 31, 2022 and the term of Ryan Anderson and Mavis Bates shall expire on May 31, 2023; however, in any event, the appointees shall serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
