SUBJECT:
A resolution to reject the bid received for aggregate to be utilized by the Public Works Water and Sewer Division.
PURPOSE:
To reject the one bid received for the 2016 Stone Material Bid for The Public Works Water and Sewer Division.
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Water and Sewer Division utilizes a variety of aggregates in the daily operations of the Division. It is anticipated that the amount to be purchased from any one specific vendor will exceed $25,000, therefore prices were solicited through the City’s advertising procedures. The City advertised a Request for Proposals for aggregate pricing on March 13, 2016. One bid was received and the price exceeded the anticipated amount. It is recommended to formally reject the bid at this time due to cost.
DISCUSSION:
Staff recommends the rejection of the one bid received as a part of this request for proposals. The method for securing a purchase order to obtain these materials will be re-evaluated and rejection of this bid will allow additional action at a later date.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There will be no impacts the public or any other City Departments.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request the proposed resolution be adopted.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, The City advertised a Request for Proposals for aggregate pricing on March 13, 2016,
WHEREAS, one bid was received and the price exceeded the anticipated amount,
WHEREAS, Staff recommends the rejection of the one bid received as a part of this request for proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: to reject the one bid received for the 2016 Stone Material Bid for the Public Works Water and Sewer Division here.
