Resolution Establishing 2026 Golf Rates at Phillips Park Golf Course
PURPOSE:
To obtain City Council approval of requested resolution establishing rates for the 2026 golf season.
BACKGROUND:
Attached are the proposed golf rates for the 2026 golf season. The City of Aurora last adjusted rates for the golf course in 2024. Golf serves as a recreational and wellness activity not only for the citizens of Aurora, but also for those individuals in our surrounding communities. Historically the City has provided competitive golf rates in the Fox Valley and surrounding areas. The course has built a reputation for welcoming golfers of all skill levels and ages, but also for maintaining great turf conditions and providing exceptional customer service. As industry costs continue to rise, the proposed rate increases will help absorb some of those costs while keeping us competitive with similar golf courses and will allow for continued investments into our course as well as course amenities.
DISCUSSION:
After assessing the surrounding golf course landscape, our proposed rates will better position us among our competitors while remaining an attractive option for our core customer base. When comparing our proposed rates to nearby competitors, we are still one of the most competitively priced golf courses in the Fox Valley area. As operating costs continue to rise, inaction will lead to a decline in overall golf value.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
By not approving the 2026 proposed rates, we will not remain competitive in the industry.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopts the resolution establishing 2026 golf rates at Phillips Park Golf Course.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, City staff has reviewed a number of changes in golf rates for the City of Aurora owned Phillips Park Golf Course for 2026, a copy of which is attached hereto; and
WHEREAS, The Superintendent of Golf Operations seeks authorization to adjust rates throughout the season as needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: A resolution to establish 2026 Golf Rates as set forth in the attached exhibit be approved.
