A Resolution appointing Jennifer Baird-del Debbio and reappointing Daniel Miller to the Aurora Preservation Commission.
DISCUSSION:
The Aurora Preservation Commission is an eleven (11) member commission created in 1979 to support the preservation of Aurora's historical, cultural, artistic, social and ethnic heritage. Members are tasked with overseeing the city’s four (4) designated historic districts, the Tanner, Palace, Near Eastside and the Riddle Highlands.
Currently, there are vacancies and expired terms on the commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended the City Council approve the above appointments and reappointments to the Aurora Preservation Commission.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, vacancies and expired terms currently exists on the Commission; and
WHEREAS, it is the Mayor's desire that the recommended candidates be appointed and reappointed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, hereby approve the appointment of Jennifer Baird-del Debbio, Aurora, IL and reappointing Daniel Miller Aurora, IL to the Aurora Preservation Commission.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the term of Jennifer Baird-del Debbio shall expire March 31, 2021 and Daniel Miller shall expire March 31, 2020 however, in any event, they shall continue to serve until their respective replacements have been approved by the Council.
