Requesting Approval of a Music Festival Permit for St. Nicholas Church as part of their Summer Fest/Kermes event on June 23th & 24th, 2018, to be held at St. Nicholas Church.
PURPOSE:
St. Nicholas Church, located at 308 High Street, will be holding their Fest/Kermes event on Saturday June 23 & Sunday June 24th, 2018. As part of this festival, St. Nicholas Church would like to have live musical entertainment, which requires City Council approval prior to the issuance of a Music Festival permit.
BACKGROUND:
This yearly event will include musical groups, food and games.
DISCUSSION:
Our office has received a completed application for this event, including a certificate of insurance, event layout, performance bond, and certificates of completion of Crowd Management training Courses. St. Nicholas has also submitted an application for an assembly operational permit, and an inspection of the site will be conducted prior to the event.
As in previous years, the event will take place in the parking lot of the church at 308 High Street. The hours of operation for the Music Festival will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday June 23th, 2018, and Sunday June 24, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, St. Nicholas Church, located at 308 High Street, will be holding their yearly Summer Fest/Kermes on Saturday June 23th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday June 24th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and, in conjunction with this festival, will be having live music as part of said event which will play from 12:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the organizers of this event are working with the City Clerk's office to coordinate said event and have applied for a Music Festival permit; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Aurora Code Section 8-200, approval of the City Council is required for the issuance of such permits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: That a Music Festival permit for St. Nicholas Church for Saturday June 23th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday June 24th, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. is hereby approved
