Acknowledgement and closeout of the 2016 Green Region Project grant.
BACKGROUND:
In 2016, the City of Aurora applied for and was awarded a $10,000 grant as part of ComEd's "Green Region Project". The grant was utilized to restore rain gardens at Phillips Park, which is the largest park in the City of Aurora. The project was completed in September of 2017, the final requirement of the grant is to include a resolution in acceptance of the project.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended the Finance Committee forward this resolution to the full City Council for consideration and acceptance.

A Resolution Acknowledging Acceptance of the 2016 ComEd Green Region Program Grant.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, in 2016 the City of Aurora was awarded a $10,000 grant from ComEd’s Green Region Program for restoration of rain gardens at Phillips Park; and
WHEREAS, the project was completed successfully in September of 2017;
WHEREAS, the final step in completion of this project is a resolution accepting the funds and completion of the project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: accepted the terms and conditions of ComEd’s Green Region Program, completed the project per said terms in September of 2017 and .
