Resolution Accepting the Bid from Classic Landscape Ltd., West Chicago, IL for the East Side Landscape Maintenance for the Divisions of Street Maintenance, Parks & Recreation, and Property Standards for 2015 and 2016.
PURPOSE:
To contract the landscape maintenance for right of ways, medians, and city-owned parcels.
BACKGROUND:
The City's landscape maintenance contract for right of ways, medians, and parcels expired in 2014. This is the first of four landscape maintenance bid packages to be advertised for public bid in 2015.
DISCUSSION:
The City has landscape maintenance responsibility of various right of ways, medians, and parcels citywide. Classic Landscape, Ltd., previously provided these services to the City of Aurora from 2011 to 2014 and performed the work satisfactorily. They submitted the lowest responsible bid at $3,355.00 per mowing cycle. I recommend that we accept their bid for a 2 year contract with 2 one year mutually agreeable extensions.
Dollars have been appropriated in the following accounts 101-4460-431.36-15, 101-4440-451.36-15, and 101-1727-424.36-14 for this expenditure.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
There should be no impact on other departments.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council accept the bid from Classic Landscape, Ltd., West Chicago, IL for the East Side Landscape Maintenance for the Divisions of Street Maintenance, Parks & Recreation, and Property Standards for 2015 and 2016.

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, bids were received for East Side Landscape Maintenance services for various locations citywide for the Divisions of Street Maintenance, Parks & Recreation, and Property Standards for 2015 and 2016; and
WHEREAS, Classic Landscape Ltd., submitted the lowest most responsible bid in the amount of $3,355.00 per landscaping/mowing cycle; and
WHEREAS, the contract shall become effective April 2015 for two years with two one-year extensions based on mutual agreement between the contractor and City of Aurora; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in 2015 budget account numbers 101-4460-431.36-15, 101-4440-451.36-15, and 101-1727-424.36-14; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: hereby accept the bid from Classic Landscape Ltd., West Chicago, IL for the East Side Landscape Maintenance for the Divisions of Street Maintenance, Parks & Recreation, and Property Standards for 2015 and 2016 and does hereby further authorize its Purchasing Director to issue the necessary orders to implement purchase of same.
