TO: Mayor Thomas J. Weisner
FROM: Joseph Hopp, Superintendent Maintenance Services
DATE: December 21, 2015
SUBJECT:
Purchase of 17 new automobiles and trucks from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts or the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative.
PURPOSE:
To replace automobiles and/or trucks that have met the replacement criteria in their respective class of a vehicle.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Aurora participates in both the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts and the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative for the purchase of new vehicles. Both of these purchasing programs solicit bids for new vehicles from automotive dealers thus we can forego the bidding process.
DISCUSSION:
I am requesting the authority to purchase 17 replacement vehicles in the amount not to exceed $410,000.00 that have been approved in the 2016 City of Aurora budget. All of these vehicles that are listed on the attached spreadsheet are available through the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts and/or the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative programs, which the City of Aurora participates.
The attached spreadsheet is sorted by fund and it cross-references the 2016 Replacement Request ID Number, department/division with the number of units approved, vehicle type, budgeted cost, and it includes the account numbers
IMPACT STATEMENT:
The purchase of 17 new vehicles will reduce the maintenance and repair cost for the respective divisions and improve the reliability of the fleet
RECOMMENDATIONS:
That the City Council adopts a resolution authorizing the purchase of 17 new vehicles in the amount not to exceed $410,000.00 from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services Master Contracts and/or the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative.
