SUBJECT:
Increase the total value of the 2015 Citywide Pavement Patching Water and Sewer Maintenance contract to $598,707.
PURPOSE:
This resolution is required in order to authorize payment for pavement restoration that had to be performed as a result of water and sewer related emergency repairs.
BACKGROUND:
On April 28th, 2015 City Council authorized the execution of the above referenced contract with Geneva Construction via resolution R15-107. The contract was established through the City's typical competitive bidding process. The original line item quantities and subsequent total not to exceed value was based on historical data from previous years. The final quantities of pavement patching have exceeded the original estimated quantities
DISCUSSION:
The 2015 budget provided funding for this work in account number 510-4063-511-38.38, Water and Sewer Fund. A Budget Transfer is in process to provide adequate funding for the additional expenses.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
This resolution is required in order to pay for completed pavement repairs.

A Resolution Ratifying the 2015 Citywide Pavement Patching Water and Sewer Maintenance Contract with Geneva Construction in the Amount of One Hundred and Three Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seven Dollars ($103,707.42).

WHEREAS, the City of Aurora has a population of more than 25,000 persons and is, therefore, a home rule unit under subsection (a) of Section 6 of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution of 1970; and
WHEREAS, subject to said Section, a home rule unit may exercise any power and perform any function pertaining to its government and affairs for the protection of the public health, safety, morals, and welfare; and
WHEREAS, On April 28, 2015 the City Council authorized the execution of the aforementioned contract with Geneva Construction through resolution number R15-107; and
WHEREAS, the original contract value was based on an estimate of the amount of pavement restoration needed due to emergency water and sewer repairs; and
WHEREAS, the final amount of pavement restoration due to emergency repairs requires an increase of One Hundred and Three Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seven Dollars and 42 Cents ($103,707.42) to the total contract value ; and
WHEREAS, a budget transfer is being processed to provide adequate funding in account number 510-4063-511-38.38, Water and Sewer Fund; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Aurora, Illinois, as follows: the Director of Purchasing is hereby authorized to increase the contract value of the 2015 Citywide Pavement Patching Water and Sewer Maintenance Contract with Geneva Construction by One Hundred and Three Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seven Dollars and 42 Cents ($103,707.42).
