TO: Mayor Thomas J. Weisner
FROM: Joseph Hopp, Superintendent of Maintenance Services
DATE: March 16, 2016
SUBJECT:
Request to accept the low bid from Schroeder Asphalt Services, P.O. Box 831, Huntley, IL 60142 for the mill and patching of sections of the Aurora Transit Centers main lot in the amount not to exceed $38,000.00.
PURPOSE:
To maintain the asphalt surfaces of the parking lot at the Aurora Transit Center ("ATC") 233 N. Broadway Ave..
BACKGROUND:
The ATC asphalt parking lot needs section repairs. The sections included in this proposal are the sections where the weekly Farmer's Market are held. There are numerous sections that will be milled and paved. In addition some of the drive lanes will be repaired.
DISCUSSION:
Three asphalt companies bid on this project. Schroeder Asphalt Services was the lowest bidder. Schroeder has been used in the past at the RT 59 Transit Center for asphalt repairs and their work met our expectations.
The ATC lot is filled to capacity on most week days so the asphalt repairs will be scheduled to be done on Saturdays. Completion of this work is expected prior to May 14th when the Aurora Garden Club plant sale and Farmer's Market is slated.
A Budget Transfer will be processed for account 530-4433-437-38-05 for these repairs.
IMPACT STATEMENT:
Since the work will be done on Saturday there will be minimal impact to commuters.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I request approval to accept the low bid from Schroeder Asphalt Services for the mill and patching of sections of the Aurora Transit Centers main lot in the amount not to exceed $38,000.00.
